Well its offical, I’ve completed all my team sets!! Last night i stayed up cleaning up allot of cards on my table that needed to be put away…. Well from 7 pm to 1:30 am thats what i was doing…. And everytime i had to put 1 or 2 cards in a set page i would check the list and cross off the final one or two cards i had missing…. To tell you i was super happy would but underrated. I would like to thank anyone who has ever sent me Marlins cards to make this happen. As of right now i don’t need any Marlins cards…. I even killed off Goodwin already!
Now i would love to start really hitting my player collections hard….. So please if i trade with you no more Marlins cards…. I have them all!! lol But i would take cards of anyone on my player list Will Clark, Manny Ramirez, Dontrelle Willis, Miguel Cabrera, Hanley Ramirez, Josh Johnson, Andrew Miller,Cameron Maybin, Dan Uggla, Anibal Sanchez, Luis Tiant, Tony Oliva, David Ortiz, Duke Snider, Virgil Trucks, Andrew Mccutchen, Cookie Rojas, Jose Tartabull……. So please let me know if would have any of the players i collect or Set help to help me kill off these set i’m trying to build. Thanks!!!
Well last night was great as the fish whooped up on the New York Mess 9 to 6…….. Maybin hit a home run after he came in and replaced Cody Ross in center because Ross was hit in the hand by John Maine…….The first 15,000 fans entering the stadium received Coghlan T-shirts, most Marlins players wore the white No. 8 shirts during on-field pregame stretching. And everyone was saying Coghlan for Rookie of the Year!! Which i think he has a shot to win. The Marlins had their third straight crowd of 30,000-plus (35,666). Also i ended up getting one auto Octavio Victor Rojas Rivas AkA Cookie Rojas. Cookie is the Marlins Spanish television announcer. Cookie is also a 5× All-Star selection which i asked him to put on the ball but he turned me down… In all a great time!!
Today i was having a bad day at work and thought why not head over to Scott’s card shop for a little shopping…. Since i needed boxes and top loaders, i said why not….. Then while looking in the bins over at the card shop i came across these great cards which i needed as well….. 1968 rookie stars of the Dodgers Jack Billingham/Jim Fairey…. I will be sending this card over to Mr.Billingham for an auto….. Also picked up 2 great looking Luis Tiant cards…… A 67 Topps card of Luis and a 1970 card of him too….. The other day during lunch i taught it would be a good idea to take the three minute drive from where i work to the stadium to see if anyone was signing….. to my surprise i saw Andrew Miller signing. So i parked and ran to the gate to see if I too could get Andrew to sign for me and he did. I hanged out there for about thirty five minutes and got a couple of autographs….. Andre Dawson signed my little gold glove and a gold glove ball… Andrew Miller, Ricky Nolasco, Leo Nunez, Chris Volstad and Jay Gibbons all signed as well. Just another day with fun in the sun!
Well since I last wrote I have been able to get a couple of more autographs at the spring training site of the Florida Marlins. Overall I love the access that Roger Dean Stadium gives you to the players….. And allot of the staff there is very helpful and friendly when it comes to answering question about a player or area that you might want to know about. Plus all the fans out there talking baseball is great. OK on to the players i got to sign… Ricky Nolasco, Andrew Miller, Harvey Garcia, Chris Volstad, and Cameron Maybin……Plus i got Hanley to sign at the hotel because he never stops by the gate….Here are some of the items sign enjoy!
Being that i work about 3 minutes from Roger Dean stadium.. I get to see allot of the players in the parking lot or the hotel…. Plus i try to make it out there at lunch time just to see if i could get somebody to sign. And it’s paid off…… The first day i went out there i was able to get a couple of players to sign baseballs and a bat for me. Harvey Garcia stopped and signed and was very nice, Ricky Nolasco also was very nice and made sure very one had gotten his autograph, Andrew Miller and Dan Uggla are class acts! Cameron Maybin was really cool and funny. Jorge Cantu also signed, as did Leo Nunez,Scott Proctor,Chris Volstad, and Anibal Sanchez. Now the ones that didn’t Cody Ross and Alfredo Amezaga went around the batting cages to make sure that didn’t run into any fans. That sucked! I’m missing Amezaga and had two great pictures for him to sign. But there’s always next time…..Also Hanley just walked by everyone and flat out said no….. I just wished he would have signed for the kids that where there waiting for him. Overall great time and can’t wait to do it again. Hopefully Monday wouldn’t be that busy at work….And if you haven’t gone make sure to go!!
here a pic of some of the items i got signed….
On April 28 2008 my friend Luis who lives in the ATL went to an autograph show where the nine time all-star was signing. He was charging 25.00 dollars per autograph which is not that bad at all. A few weeks early i had learned about him signing because Luis had saw it on Signing Hotline. So i said time to look on ebay to see whats out there for Nique to sign. Well I type in the name and the first thing i see is a Mitchell & Ness 1987-88 all-star jersey of Nique. Starting bid 50.00 dollars, i was like wow i gotta have this jersey for him to sign. Usually this jersey sells for like 250. So i bid on it and to my surprise I won it, with not another person bidding on it. So i send to the homie in da ATL and he gets it signed on April 28 2008. We’ve known each other since middle school and have always been good friends. i trust him like if he where my brother. And we always get autographs for each other all the time. But this time it took him almost a year to send that to me. I could have killed him, but i love him to much. Plus who going to go with year next year when the Super bowl and the Pro Bowl are in town ( He’s flying in ). Well with that said it was here and man i was happy to see it up close and in my hands. To most of you its like opening that wax pack, that feeling of excitement. Well here are the pictures of it and the ball I had him get signed too!
Today Dan Uggla won his salary arbitration case against the Florida Marlins. The Marlins where only give danny a 4.4 million dollar deal but Uggla wanted a little more and rightful so. So the Independent arbitrators give Dan what he wanted a 5.35 million dollar deal for one year. Now i don’t know about you guys but i think the fish should just get it over with and sign this guy to the long term deal he wants. Danny has come along way since his Diamondbacks day, since joining the Marlins Dan has broken many records like Joe Gordans record for most home runs by a rookie second baseman. He also has been named to two all-star games, won the Players Choice NL ROY award and the Sporting News Rookie of the Year award. Plus his power number continue to grow and so does his leadership in the clubhouse. I for one would love to see Uggla signed to a long term deal. One of the good guys on this Florida Marlins team, always takes to time to talk and smile to take a picture or just to sign an autograph. Please Marlins don’t let this fish get away!!!!
