Well yesterday was a long day, my friends…… I taught this Ricky signing was going to be smooth as a baby butt, but nope…. I got there an hour before the signing started…. And let me tell you there must have been at least 200 people waiting in line already…. The line was as long as the eye could see and it was hot….. Here a couple of pics….
And then came the news “one item per person” aw crap…… I had so many things i wanted signed but that was out the window. You had all kinds of people there… The ones you always see and know that they get autographes to sell on Ebay, you had families talking about put up all the items they get signed on Ebay….. Then you had me, a die hard fins fan and collector stuck in middle of these damn people….. To make a long story short… I made it into the store at about 7:19 pm almost two hours after i had gotten there…. Oh and no pictures please which also sucked…. Anyways i give him my item to sign and then i tried to give him the baseball card and its like a pulled a gun or something…. i was just giving him a card people, i didn’t want it signed… i taught it would be coll just to handle it to him…. Well i almost get removed from the store for that, dumbasses…. Well here the item i got signed, Ya’ll tell me what you think….
In less than 24 hours from now i will be meeting Mr. Ricky Williams at an AT&T store down in Davie. The autograph signing is free and i can’t wait…. I have everything ready to go since i’ll be heading from work to there. Did you know that Ricky Williams spent four years as a professional baseball player. The Philadelphia Phillies drafted him in the 8th round of the 1995 amateur draft. A shortstop in high school, he became an outfielder in the pro ranks. He hit .239/~.277/.248 for the 1995 Martinsville Phillies and stole 13 bases in 15 tries. In 1996, Ricky moved up to the class A Piedmont Boll Weevils and hit .188/~.239/.259 with a career-high 3 homers and 20 RBI. He struck out 87 times in 266 AB and was caught in 8 of 25 steal attempts.
It was funny cause today while at the card shop i picked up one of his baseball cards, it was in the 25 cent bid…At first i did a double take but than i saw the birthday and it matched….. Here are some of things i hope to get signed…..I already have a mini helmet and football signed by him plus a jersey so……
In 1997, Williams returned to Piedmont and continued to see fairly regular time, hitting .206/~.255/.265 with 44 K in 136 at-bats (9 walks) and 10 steals in 14 tries. He finished up with the 1998 Batavia Muckdogs, hitting .283/~.309/.283 with 16 K, 2 BB, 6 SB in 9 tries and no extra-base hits in 13 games the year he won the Heisman Trophy with the University of Texas. His baseball career was over, but he was still selected in the 1998 Rule V draft by the Montreal Expos, who immediately traded him to the Texas Rangers. The Rangers could not convince him to pursue his baseball career, however.

My dog Jimmy has had some great song over the years….. But there one line in one of his songs that always has stood out to me…. “Id rather die while I’m living than live while I’m dead” ah yes…… So true, to me this doesn’t apply to yet..Being that I’m a young stud at 31 years old in my collecting prime, I would say…… Now this post is going nowhere but i taught it would be funny just to speak my mind…. Lately tho i have been feeling old, my body ain’t what it use to be and i hurt everyday….. But my mind, I think is young and full of life and knows a lot of dumb information…. But what i wanna know is what happens when your body can’t keep up with your mind?? Hopefully i’ll never know the answer to that one….. You see no where….
Now on to a trade with the homie from Play At The Plate….. You wanna talk about a kind and giving person, all you have to do is take one look over at Brian at a Play At The Plate….. this man goes out of his way to send not one but two packages to the MIA without any warning…. And man, did he send some goodies…. Will Clark…check! Marlin cards…. check! An auto of Adrain Gonzalez…check! A Dan Uggla jersey card….check! Dude is just great….Unselfish as they get! Thanks Brian, be on the look out for a package from me soon….
Today was a good day….. Before going to the mall and meeting a baseball icon, i taught i share a little something of a memory to most that live in South Florida…. The OB!! When i was little live down in South Beach there was no other place i love to go than the OB….. I watch so many Hurricane games out there plus i also caught a few Fins games too….. The OB was old and it smelled like a piss pot but damn the history in there was unmatched…..It hosted five Super Bowls, popular boxing bouts, concerts and so much more….. Home to the Miami Hurricanes since 1937 to 2007 when the Canes jumped ship and moved into Landshark…..But did you know that The Orange Bowl was also the site of the NCAA’s longest college football winning streak. Between 1985 and 1994, the Miami Hurricanes won 58 straight home games at the Bowl, until ended by the Washington Huskies. I know, so with much anger from me and other peeps in South Florida the OB was put to rest on May 14, 2008. I know for one it will always live in my heart as one for the best places to go and its sad that my kids didn’t get to sit in it and take it all in… The OB had swagger just like the team that called it home…. We miss ya!!!
And if you wanna know what’s being build there now…. Well its the new home of the soon to be called Miami Marlins…. The Marlins taught it was right to change there name since they will now be playing officely in Miami AKA Magic City…. Bitter sweet in all ways…….
Rest in Peace OB : December 10, 1937 to May 14, 2008
I sent this one out about a week ago thinking i’ll get it back after the NLF playoffs but Mr. Theismann was nice enough to return it to me in less than a week!!! now i’m not much for non Fins autos but Joe’s auto was a must have. I still can picture the hit that ended Mr. Theismann career…Ouch! But he took it like and man and never blamed anyone. A ture badass in every way!
Well Brain really out did himself with this great package….. As you can see by the picture, he sent me my first Husdon game used card, also a bunch of needed Husdon cards that i didn’t have. But he also sent some Manny’s and some cool Marlin cards too. He finally got himself a blog and it’s named Play At The Plate make sure to stop by and check out the great story’s. Thanks B!!! Holla!
Sorry for the lack of posts, I’ve been dead tried and my tailbone is killing me…… I broke it a while back and the other day i fell and hurt it again so i can’t almost not sit down…. but you will be getting a bunch of trade posts from me today and some other goodies as well!! Thanks!
One of the things i love about this blogging world is the way we the collectors try and find ways to help one another with cards…… Joe at The Priceless Pursuit is most def a very kind man indeed! lol (sorry had to do it). Even tho he’s a Yankees fan and has fond memories of the 2003 world series which the Marlins won. Joe made sure that he took care of his readers by giving away free football cards…. All he asked was to make sure they where given a good home, which they are. I picked the Miami Dolphins because,Duh! I’m a huge fan….. Well take a look at what Joe sent over a bunch of Dan’s,Ronnie’s, and Chirs (I’m a bolt now) Chambers…. Thank you very much Joe for this kind act! And if you haven’t checked out his blog make sure to take your monkey asses over there and read up!
I’ve been a Fins fan for as long as i can remember….. Watch them in my household since i was young early 80’s or so…. I remember one player that i always wanted to be like…. And that was Mark Supa Duper, yup! I know that i could ever be like him (not tall enough or fast, I’m build like a fullback) but what the hell witha nickname like Supa who wouldn’t want to be him. Duper was a stud in his day with great hands and speed! I was lucky enough to meet him a couple of times and get some things signed….. One time he asked me to email him the pictures i had of him to get signed because he taught they where really cool. He will always be one of the greatest Fins ever!
